Details: This conference will focus on the people who represent the discipline
of music in our universities, and the drivers that inform their work:
- the students, their learning, and graduate outcomes within the context
of a dynamic external environment
- the staff, the scholarship that informs their teaching, and their career
aspirations within the higher education sector
- the wider community of music practice in Australia, and how this relates
to the work of tertiary students and staff
These themes are the basis of the conference which will
take the form of interactive plenary sessions. Papers will be published
and distributed beforehand to ensure that the focus is on dialogue and
debate rather than a series of individual presentations.
Calls for papers: Proposals for scholarly papers related to the following
topic areas are invited:
1. The shape of the contemporary tertiary music curriculum in
Australia and its delivery
2. The musical culture of Australia and its relationship to tertiary
institutions
3. The human resource factors which impact on tertiary music in
Australia
NACTMUS invites submissions of a paper proposal in the form of an abstract.
Jointly written papers and proposals for panel presentations are welcome.
Proposals (300 word maximum) should be received via email attachment in
Word format -no .pdf files please. Calls for papers deadline: 1 February
2007
