The Musicological Society of Australia is the pre-eminent organisation for music research in Australia. Our members come from all over the world, as well as a substantial and expanding institutional subscriber base.

Members of MSA enjoy the following advantages:

  • Free copies of the journal Musicology Australia (published twice per year) by Taylor & Francis;
  • Preferential rates at MSA conferences;
  • Members have the right to vote and to participate in the activities of the organisation, as well as to submit papers for inclusion in MSA annual conferences.

Membership is open to all interested parties anywhere in the world:

  • Ordinary members AUD $80.00 (Overseas AUD $90.00)
  • Student members AUD $40.00 (Overseas AUD $50.00)
    Please provide proof of current enrolment status, e.g. photocopy of current Student ID or enrolment form.
  • Emeritus members AUD $40.00 (Overseas AUD $50.00)
    Requires National Committee approval. Must be a retired member with at least 10 years continuous membership.
  • Life member AUD $1,400.00 (Overseas AUD $1,600.00)

In case of difficulties concerning membership, please contact the membership secretary.

For ordinary, student and emeritus members, the subscription year for Musicology Australia runs from July to June and renewal notices are sent out in March. If you are joining part-way through a calendar year, your membership will count for the current year and you will receive all of the journals relating to that year.

Please note that institutional subscriptions are administered by Taylor & Francis, the publisher of Musicology Australia.
